A heavily modified Porsche 911 GT2 from Singapore had crashed on a Malaysian highway last night. The black Porsche participated in the ‘Sepang Drag Battle’ drag racing event held in Sepang International Circuit last night and met its fate as it traveled down the highway upon leaving the event. The crash occurred at 2.15am GMT+8 on the SPRINT Expressway where both the Singaporean driver Kwek Kun Chon and the Singaporean passenger Franco Toh were killed on the scene. It is believed that the Porsche was travelling at high speed before the driver lost control of the vehicle where it then spun and crashed into the guardrail. The rescue team had to cut the guardrail apart to remove the bodies of the occupants from the car.

New Porsche Cayman 211 And Boxter 211 Now Available In Belgium

Cayman 211 1

Like what its Norwegian counterpart did four years ago, Porsche Belgium is now offering a new entry level variant of the Porsche Cayman and Boxter call the 211. Although Stuttgart had yet to confirm the news, Porsche Belgium had listed both cars on their official website. As the name suggests, the new variant of both cars will have only 211bhp under the hood. However, the Cayman and Boxter 211 was not powered by a new four cylinder engine as rumoured but a detuned version of the 2.7 liter flax-six found in the normal Cayman and Boxter. Porsche Belgium claims that the detuned engine would not affect the overall performance of both car much with the Cayman 211 completing the century dash in 6.2 seconds before topping out at 246km/h and Boxter 211 completing the century dash in 6.1 seconds and topping out at around 245km/h. It was speculated that Porsche Belgium detuned the engine with the similar objective as Porsche Norway’s: to reduce import taxation.

“Project: Secret!” Special Exhibition At The Porsche Museum

Over the years, Porsche had built many prototypes to test out new technologies and innovations. However, not all these prototypes were put into production as some are too expensive to build or too bold for their time. Despite never putting them into production, Porsche never wasted the investments on these prototypes and many of the technologies and innovations were actually carried over to the other production models. These prototypes are normally stashed away in Porsche’s warehouse away from the public’s eyes but visitors to the Porsche Museum could now see some of these amazing prototypes at the “Project: Secret!” special exhibition. A total of 14 Porsche prototypes will be on display at the exhibition including the Porsche Concept Car Type 995, Porsche 959 C29, Porsche 924, Porsche 989, etc. The “Project: Secret!” special exhibition will be open to the public from 17th September 2014 to 11th January 2015.

Oakley Design Porsche 918 Spyder Faces A Shortage In Luggage Space

porsche

The Porsche 918 Spyder is one of the most desirable hypercars on earth. With a total combined output of 887bhp from the natural-aspirated 4.6 V8 and two hybrid motors, the Porsche 918 Spyder is the fastest road car to lap the Nürburgring and is capable of delivering 94MPG on a combined cycle. However, there are still some drawbacks to it, a lack of luggage space for instant as demonstrated by this Oakley Design Porsche 918 Spyder outside a hotel in Cannes. It took a few person to fit the bag into the boot and once its in, the bonnet does not shut. Eventually, some stuff were taken out to make the bag fit and to allow the bonnet to shut properly. Simple lesson: travel light when you are traveling in a car like this. For those who insist of bringing all your luggage with you, well Porsche does make the Cayenne SUV.
